古文：
天地浑沌如鸡子，盘古生其中。万八千岁，天地开辟，阳清为天，阴浊为地。盘古在其中，一日九变，神于天，圣于地。天日高一丈，地日厚一丈，盘古日长一丈。如此万八千岁。天数极高，地数极深，盘古极长。
现代文：
很久很久以前，没有天也没有地，整个宇宙一片混沌。无数细小的气一般的微粒，在弥漫、蒸腾。后人称之为“元气”，也就是原始之气。气状的微粒碰撞着，汇成一股股气流，一清一浊交缠成一个气团，犹如一颗硕大的鸡蛋。
一个身影静静地沉睡在气团里，一动也不动。他就是巨人盘古。大约过了一万八千年，酣睡中的盘古做了一个美梦，梦中来到一个鸟语花香的世界。他被梦中的美景惊醒了，睁开惺忪的双眼，却发现周围还是漆黑一片。
盘古想舒展一下筋骨，却发现被什么无形的东西紧裹着。他恼怒地拔下一颗牙齿，化为一把神斧，挥动双臂向黑暗独力劈去。“轰隆隆”一声巨响，天地分开了。顿时，多少年的混沌黑暗被搅动了，眼前出现了奇异的景象。轻而清的阳气徐徐上升，形成了澄澈的天空；重而浊的阴气沉沉下降，堆积成了厚实的大地。从此，宇宙中有了天和地。盘古站在天地之间，感到神清气爽。
盘古担心天地重新合在一起，于是他脚踩大地，头顶天空，猛一发力，嗨！盘古惊奇地发现：自己的身体长高了！他的身体增高一尺，天随之增高一尺，大地也增厚一尺；他的身体增高一丈，天随之增高一丈，大地也增厚一丈。盘古日长夜大，有时一天九变。虽然十分劳累，盘古还是以顽强的信念，夜以继日地挺立着。又过了一万八千年，天已经高得不能再高了，地也厚得不能再厚了。盘古成了一位顶天立地的巨人。
看着自己开辟的天地，盘古十分欣慰。如果天地间有日月山川，万物蓬勃生长该多么美好。然而，他为不属于已精疲力竭，再也支撑不住了。想到自己将看不到天地间美好的未来，这个硬汉不禁流下了泪水。
就在这时，神奇的事发生了：他的泪水瞬间化为江河湖海，四处奔流。他的喃喃自语化为雷霆万钧，轰然作响。他口中呼出的气息，化作了空中的云雾和孕育万物的春风。他的左眼变成了光芒万丈的太阳，照耀着大地。他的右眼则变成了一轮皎洁的明月，给夜晚带来清辉。他的胡须变作了天空中闪烁的星辰，照亮了夜空。他辛劳的汗水化成了雨露，滋润万物。他身上的汗毛变成了布满大地的花草和树木。他的头发变成了东岳泰山，肚子变成了中岳嵩山，左臂变成了南岳衡山，右臂变成了北岳恒山，双脚变成了西岳华山。大地呈现出壮丽的景象。他的肌肉变成了肥沃的的田地，万物生长。连他的牙齿和骨髓，也变成了洁白的玉石和地下无穷无尽的宝藏。
盘古耗尽毕生精力完成开天辟地的伟大业绩，死后化身万物，给后人留下取之不尽的宝藏，成为世代称颂的中华创世纪英雄。

PANGU CREATES THE NEW WORLD
A long time ago, the world was a mass of chaos. There was no heaven. There was no earth.
Lots of tiny particles which were called 'Yuanqi' later, were rising and flowing in it. That was the original 'gas'.
All the forces of the universe crashed and gathered into airflows, the pure and the dark confused to an air mass like a giant egg.
There was a giant named Pangu in the egg. He slept soundly, unbothered by the disorder around him.
Pangu had a good dream in which there was a wonderful world after he had slept almost eighteen thousand years.
The beautiful scenery awakened him. He opened his eyes, acutely aware of the swirling darkness around him.
Pangu wanted to stretch, but found that some invisible gases were restraining him.
He was so angry that pulled out one tooth, which became an axe and swung it down to the darkmess with every ounce of his strength.
The sound reverberated throughout the world that was divided into two, the heaven and the earth.
Suddenly, the mass of swirling darkness was spinning. There was an amazing scene.
The light and clear forces ascended to become the blue heaven; while the heavy and thick forces descended to become the fertile earth.
Since then, there were heaven and earth. Pangu was delighted with his new world.
But Pangu was worried that the world would dissolve back into chaos. He propped up the sky and stood there, stretching and shoving with all strength.
Pangu realized in surprise that his body grew.
The sky raised one chi and the earth thickened one chi while his body grew on chi. The sky raised one zhang and the earth thickened one zhang while his body grew on zhang.
Pangu grew all day and all night. Sometimes he sould change several times in one day.
Pangu felt exhausted, but he still stood there bravely all day and all night.
After eighteen thousand years, the sky was firmly attached to the heaven and the earth was soundly anchored below.
Pangu was the giant who held up the heaven and supported the earth.
Pangu was so delighted to see the world that he created. He thought that it would be glorious if there were the sun, the moon and the mountains, in which everything would grow very quickly.
But he was tired from creating the new world, so much so that he couldn't hold it up any more.
The strong giant couldn't help weeping, when he thought that he couldn't see the bright future.
At that moment, something magical happened. His tear turned to the rivers and seas flowing everywhere.
His mutter produced rolling thunder.
His breath formed the clouds, mists and spring breezes.
His left eye became the bright and shining sun.
His right eye became the pure and clean moon.
His beard changed into the shining stars in the night.
His sweat changed into the rain to moisten everything created.
The hair on his skin produced the flowers and trees all over the earth.
His hair came Mount Tai (East Mount), his tummy became Mount Song (Middle Mount), his left arm became Mount Heng (South Mount), his right arm became Mount Heng (North Mount), his feet became Mount Hua
(West Mount), which all were magnificent sceneries.
His muscles changed into the rich soils for plants growing.
Even his teeth, bones and marrows all changed to the white jades and endless treasures underground.
Pangu spent all efforts on the great achievements. When he died, his body turned into all things useful, which were all treasures inexhaustible to the descendant. He is extolled as the hero who created the new world.
