Stuyvesant High School 是纽约的公立高中。查了一下该高中的入学要求:
The only requirement is that all eighth graders and first-time ninth graders who are New York City residents only (The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island) are eligible to take the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test, SHSAT.
In September of your eighth or ninth grade, the student should inform the guidance counselor of his/her decision so that an admission ticket can be issued for the test. This is true even for students who attend private/parochial schools. There is no specialty priority given to Manhattan residents.
Students rank their choices on the high school application and students who score high school on the SHSAT and rank Stuyvesant High School as their number one choice are given priority.
If all the seats do not fill up for the new 9th grade class, then all students who score high enough on the SHSAT and rank Stuyvesant as their number two choice are then informed, again ranked from highest to lowest based on the test score down to the cutoff score, based on number of final seats available.
Many students opt to attend a different specialized high school, even if they score high enough for Stuyvesant, for reduced travel time and other reasons. There are nine NYC specialized high schools in total, with eight of them requiring the SHSAT. The ninth one, Fiorello H. Laguardia High School of Music, Art and Performing Arts requires an audition in a talent area and a review of middle school academic achievement. |
