身边经常有朋友、家长会问我什么是自然拼读？学自然拼读有什么好处？而当我来到这里，也看到很多家长对它迷茫，于是我就想着一定要写点什么，以一个教了自然拼读多年的老师和以一个学了近两年的自然拼读的孩子的家长的双重身份，来谈谈我对自然拼读的一些心得，希望能帮助到正在迷茫的家长们。
一次偶然的机会，看到BBC news上关于自然拼读的一段文字：

What is phonics?
The phonics approach teaches children to decode words by sounds, rather than recognising whole words. The emphasis in early years teaching is on synthetic phonics, in which words are broken up into the smallest units of sound (phonemes音素)
Children are taught the letters (graphemes词素) that represent these phonemes and also learn to blend them into words. So, at its most basic, children are taught to read the letters in a word like c-a-t, and then merge them to pronounce the word cat.
A phoneme can be represented by one, two, three or four letters (such as "ough" in "dough").
Children are systematically taught around 40 phonic sounds and the combination of letters used to represent each sound.
Most sounds, however, have more than one way to spell them. For example, "e" in "egg" can also be spelt "ea" as in "head" or "ai" as in "said".
Graphemes are grouped together and children progress from one group to the other and will be tested at the end of year one, when they are six years old.
是否要学自然拼读？
以上的文章是从语言学、词汇学的角度对自然拼读进行了解读。有两个重要的信息值得再提下：一个是“在英国的学校，针对六岁孩子的自然拼读测试已经开展起来了”，二是：“自然拼读已被英国政府作为最有效的提升阅读水平的方法而推广”。如此看来，自然拼读在英国这样的国家都在被重视，被推广，而我们这些外语初学者，为何不也从这里开始呢？
自然拼读又是什么？
其实自然拼读就是在学习英语中的字母及字母组合的发音规律，以期达到见词能读，见句能读，从而为英语阅读做好准备的。所以自然拼读的学习一定要和阅读紧密联系，否则这种学习就会变得枯燥，而没有意义了。
怎样学习自然拼读？
正像我们的汉语拼音的学习目的一样，英语自然拼读主要是帮助孩子们过单词认读关的，通过这种长期地学习，以建立英语语感及形成英语学习基础的。所以这是一种长期地、系统地学习。绝不可能是通过某一个为期几周的集中培训就能做到的。试想，有哪个英语学习者，不是通过十几年甚至更长时间的英语学习，才把一些字母及字母组合的发音记在脑海，才能做到拼读生词的。所以每个准备让孩子学习自然拼读的家长，一定要好长期学习的准备。个人认为：英语自然拼读最佳学习周期为一般为一年半到两年。（视孩子的程度而言）
